Channel 7 interviewed Amarillo criminal defense attorney Ryan Brown to ask about the right to self defense and how it defers between New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma.

Keep your wits about you if you are put in a position to defend yourself. Your actions may be second guessed later based on what a reasonable person would do. Even though any self defense situation is by its nature stressful, try to be mindful of ways to corroborate your story. Finally, you have a right to remain silent as well as a right to bare arms. Exercise that right and do not talk to police or anyone about the incident.
