We were lucky enough to attend a great celebration of Juneteenth and the dedication of a historical marker in honor of Matthew “Bones” Hooks. Hooks was a cowboy, leader, and pioneer in many respects. It is great to see one of the founders of the North Heights community honored, finally, in this way. Hopefully leaders in other communities in Amarillo will be recognized soon in the same way. Great job to everyone involved!
